This year, I'm back in my hometown of Clare, Nova Scotia, to work on an adventure game about my hometown. The game will feature the rich and unique folklore of the region, as well as music, writing and voice performances from local talent.

Students and friends from the public assembled at UNB Fredericton and NBCC Miramichi to create digital games on the shared theme of “Everything you know is wrong.” In total, about 45 people participated and created 14 original games. La vie d'Arcade is an interactive story that explores modern-day Acadian culture. In this single-player adventure, players take on the role of a young Acadian boy named Arcade Comeau as he discovers his identity.

 

The game was first launched at the World Acadian Congress in 2014, and the physical edition was released in summer 2016.

I helped develop a game with a group of youth about their experiences in the LGBTQ+ community as part of a dissertation by University of New Brunswick PhD candidate Nathan Thompson.

 

The group had the chance to present the project at the Different Games 2016 conference in Brooklyn, New York City.

The game, commissioned by the FRAP, was launched on April 4, 2016, at the Marc-Lescarbot theater during the Festival Clare-té.

Meteghan Frenchy's User Experience Simulation

This game invites players to explore a digital version of the Meteghan Frenchy's, modeled after the flagship store, and to interact with people and the store environment. Inspiration for events and dialogue included in the game were crowdsourced via social media from volunteers submitting their memories and experiences of various thrift stores.
